US army Special Coates Tracy a mechanic from Bravo company 2nd Battalion 27th Infantry fixes an Afghan army Humvee vehicle after an attack by insurgents in the early hours on September 19, 2011 at Outpost Monti in Kunar province. A decade of fighting in Afghanistan has since snowballed into a huge effort involving around 130,000 foreign troops from dozens of countries, with the resilient Taliban using homemade bombs and guerrilla tactics in a bid to undermine the Afghan government and the NATO mission.
