Nonostante ciò, <strong><em>Wal-Mart</em></strong> ha perso il<strong> 3,3%</strong> alla <strong>borsa di <em>New York</em></strong>, dopo aver annunciato che <strong>il ritmo delle sue vendite potrebbe rallentare in agosto</strong>. Invece, <strong><em>Costco</em></strong> è aumentata del <strong>10%</strong>, mentre la <a href="http://www.limitedbrands.com/" target="_self">Limited</a><a href="http://www.limitedbrands.com/" target="_self"> Brands</a><a href="http://www.limitedbrands.com/" target="_self"> Inc.</a>, azienda proprietaria dei negozi di <strong><em>lingerie Victoria’s Secret</em></strong>, prevede un calo delle vendite. L’inizio dello <strong><em>shopping back-to-school</em></strong> (acquisti promozionali) e la sospensione dei tassi di vendita hanno favorito gli acquisti. I clienti hanno dato le loro preferenze a <strong><em>Wal-Mart, Costco</em></strong> e <strong>alla catena di negozi <em>Marshall</em></strong>, dopo che il prezzo della benzina è salito a <strong>4 dollari al gallone</strong> e dopo che l’inflazione ha spinto gli acquirenti a spendere meno.</p>
